Inspiring Change: Women in Engineering Career Seminar

Inspiring Change: Women in Engineering Career Seminar – Transition Year and 5th Year Students & Teachers – Come along to Engineers Ireland’s free Women in Engineering career seminar on Thursday 3rd April to learn about the exciting and varied career options in engineering. Some 117,800 people work in Science, Technology, Engineering and Research in Ireland but only 25 percent are women. However, research carried out recently by Accenture indicates that in the past 3 years, 51 percent of teachers surveyed have seen an increase in the uptake of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) subjects by girls.

Here at Engineers Ireland’s STEPS programme, we want to show girls that engineering is a viable and exciting career choice, offering a chance to make a real difference in the world. We have invited three female engineers at various stages in their career to come and speak to students about their jobs as engineers and take questions from students and teachers interested in finding out more.

This event is free and is open to female Transition Year and 5th Year post-primary students and their teachers.

Venue: Engineers Ireland, 22 Clyde Road, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4
Date & time: Thursday 3rd April 2014; 9.30am to 12pm
